Anelina (13) from Ukraine, Tasneem (14) from Syria and Hamed (17) from Sudan are trying to make a new start in the Netherlands. All three have fled war; all three are trying to take the next step here. Each encounters their own obstacles along the way. Language, friendship, family, memories — everything touches on the same question: how do you keep growing?
Stylised imagery and animation convey the characters’ emotional worlds, revealing how they can have so little and yet so much in common. Stories and poems by the characters themselves offer an intimate glimpse into how they experience the world.
Between Worlds is a film about what you carry with you, what you leave behind, and what it takes — and what you gain — to keep growing.
